EMILIO RAMOS
Emilio Ramos (he/they) is a theatre director and creative collaborator based in New York City.
He directed the Off-Broadway revival of See What I Wanna See, which received three Drama Desk Award nominations including Outstanding Revival of a Musical. They have helmed solo works for Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival (Cheeyang Ng’s Legendary) and the Australian Theatre Festival NYC (Thomas Weatherall’s Blue), as well as a number of new plays and musicals in development. He is also the co-creator of Carey: The Emancipation of Mimi, a parody musical that fuses the literary worlds of Stephen King and Mariah Carey.
Currently, they serve as Associate Director for the smash-hit Broadway production of Maybe Happy Ending (winner of the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical.) Other New York AD credits include the Tony-winning Broadway revival & subsequent tour of Parade, Hadestown on Broadway, Vanya (starring Andrew Scott) at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and the acclaimed City Center Encores! production of The Light in the Piazza.
Emilio is on adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt and was recently listed among the Theatrely31 Class of 2025. He is represented by Skyler Gray at The Gersh Agency and is a proud member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).
Emilio is mixed-race Filipino and Anglo-Australian. They are gender non-conforming and use he/they pronouns interchangeably. He lives in Manhattan with their partner and their one-eyed dog, Sebastian.
